The violet--the official sorority flower of Sigma Kappa

The best kind of friend is the kind you can sit on a porch swing with, never say a word, then walk away feeling like it was the best conversation that you ever had.
-anonymous

Tomorrow I'm off to Indianapolis for my sorority's yearly meeting.
Convention looming on the horizon has made me ponder life and friendship.
A lot of people accuse members of the Greek community of "buying their friends"
but in my opinion nothing could be further from the truth.
The friends, nay, best friends I've made in my chapter are the people I was destined to be friends with.
These women will be in my wedding,
know my children (if that happens),
and know my deepest secrets even when we've grown up and apart.
I cherish the memories I've made with them,
and am so grateful that I have another year of memories to create.

My sorority's open motto is one heart one way
and that truly resonates in my mind.

Friends share a heart, a pathway, and a bond so deep that it cannot be broken
no matter what times and circumstances do to rip it apart.

I am so grateful for my friends,
and cannot wait to meet my sisters from all around the country this weekend.

Sunday Gratitude

Sometimes I am just struck by how amazingly blessed I am to have my friends and family in my life.

I spent the weekend surrounded by people I love and who love me, and for that I am tremendously thankful.

Today I just wanna pinch myself. My life is full of love, happiness, and smiles.

Wonderful Weekend

The weekend began (on Thursday, because I'm in college, duh) with a beautiful night spent on the roof of my house drinking wine with my best friends. I took the pictures aboveon my iphone (I really really really need a new camera) and it was such a clear and warm night! It's beginning to feel a lot like summer :)
Friday was SO GORGEOUS. I spent the morning laying in the sun, and spent the evening at the A's opening night game with Kendall, Paige, and my dad. The A's played as if they had never played baseball before (bummer) but games are always fun, so I still enjoyed myself!
Saturday was my friend Genelle's birthday. Her one request was that we go to the gym, so Kate, Jasmine, and I went with her. I ran hard (probably too hard) and wound up pulling a muscle! I haven't been able to work out since. But in happier news, after the gym Jasmine and I discovered this great little place on Telegraph in Berkeley. It's called Pasta Bene, and it's super cheap, quick, and amazingly delicious. I had the salad above (for $4!!!) and was perfectly satisfied. I also scoped out some fantastic looking pasta dishes and cheesecake! I'll definitely be going back there soon.

Saturday night I went to my first foam party (so college, right?!) and I'm still waiting for the pictures. Will post soon, as I'm sure there are some funny ones!

What did you all do over this gorgeous weekend?

If you're going to San Francisco, be sure to wear some flowers in your hair.

On Saturday of this past weekend, two of my girlfriends and I decided we needed a break from Berkeley for our sanities' sake. (My computer tells me that "sanities" isn't a word, but "sanity" wouldn't be correct either, right?) Sometimes this place is just a little more intense than I really feel like dealing with. So we booked a room (shown above!) at the Sir Francis Drake Hotel. I had stayed there once before but forgot how cute and convenient it is!
The best part of the hotel: these fabulous and lush robes that are free of charge to wear!
Such a good recommendation I got from my friend Kelsey
Also, we may or may not have gone to sleep before 11:30
We spent the day shopping and the night drinking wine and a delicious dinner at this cute little Italian place that I unfortunately cannot remember the name of. If it comes to me I'll update this!
Capellini (top) that was literally TO DIE FOR. I will probably dream about it tonight.
Creme brulee (bottom) equally delicious, but not quite as good as the chocolate cake my friends got!
My one complaint about the trip is that the shopping was really disappointing! I think it was because I had very specific things I wanted to buy, but either couldn't find them or chickened out of spending a lot. My sole purchase (I don't think I have ever been able to use the term "sole purchase" before. Shopping is an addiction) was this fabulous light pink blazer from Aritzia. It was only $85, which is pretty reasonable for a blazer. So happy I stumbled upon it while Kate tried things on.
Awkward iPhone picture, per my mother's request to see the blazer. Aren't you jealous?!
All in all, this was a fabulous getaway! I feel totally refreshed and ready to take on the next two weeks. Sometimes all you need is a nice distraction, and I'm so grateful that we distracted ourselves in such style this weekend. :)

**My apologies for all the awkward photos! Some were taken from Facebook, and my camera is super janky.
Time for a new one!
